In March, 2006, The Brady Kohn Foundation established a joint
partnership with Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE to establish
it as a public cord blood collection facility. With more than
7,000 babies
born at the hospital each year, it is one of the largest and most
experienced maternity centers and neonatal intensive care units
in the Delaware Valley.
The partnership was then expanded to include The Elie Katz Umbilical
Cord Blood Program at Community Blood Services in Paramus, NJ.
The Elie Katz Program was established in 1996 to meet the growing
population of cancer patients who are candidates for stem cell
transplants. The facility was renamed in 2001 after founder Dr.
Elie Katz, a pioneer in advocating cord blood
collection and preservation.
All three of these organizations
share a common passion and vision- to provide expectant parents
an opportunity to have a choice in cord blood banking. The Brady
Kohn Foundation is proud to now provide expectant parents this
important option.
